Monster Trucks at the Lakeside Equestrian Center

A monster truck show scheduled to happen in a horse arena has sparked fears among local ranch owners that the massive trucks will spook horses and cause them to run amok. Ranch manager Kelsey Richardson says she’s worried the noise from the event will be too loud for horses and will aggravate their sensitive ears. “Horses are flight animals, and they’re prone to panicking when they hear loud noises,” she said. “They may get scared to the point where they run through a pipe corral and hurt themselves.”

The Lakeside Equestrian Center operator, Ron Bridgewood, has been working with County officials to secure a permit for the event. The County’s community event permitting process evaluates a number of factors including the impact on the surrounding area and the noise level. “All aspects of an event must be approved by the County before a permit is issued,” a spokesperson for the county said in a statement.

The arena is designed to host a variety of events and sports competitions. It can host rodeos, equestrian shows and motorized events such as arena cross and tractor pulls. The facility also has a high impact stadium grade floor for hosting indoor expos, festivals and concerts. The arena has a total of 1,727 seats, making it a great venue for family-friendly events.
